This was slightly different to my previous visits to Vancouver. Lorraine had undergone brain surgery the week before my visit. It was supposed to be in July but was delayed. Consequently she wasn't really able to do much. Despite that, the improvement in her condition over the fortnight I was there was remarkable. She even drove a short distance on my last full day there.
12 October. Cruise friends Lino and Chiqui picked me up and we went to Fort Langley for the annual cranberry festival. Fort Langley is a quaint little place and I'd like to see it without all the stalls and people in the way. Basically what they do, is to close off the street and put a lot of different stalls along it. Many were selling cranberry related goodies, but not all by any stretch of the imagination. Just the other side of the festival was a bridge over the Fraser River and they were holding pumpkin races. Basically, 9 pumpkins are dropped off the bridge into the river and 9 teams in boats have to row towards them, grab a pumpkin each and then complete the course. At one point they have to land on McMillan Island and drop the pumpkin off. The leading boat managed to tip over and everyone overtook them. It was great fun. FWIW, cranberry beer isn't nice!
16 October. I bought a GoPro at Heathrow for my trip to the Galapagos next year. So I took it to Central Park to try it out. While I was there I took some photos too.
20 October. Another cruise friend, Jordan, and I had an evening out in Gastown. For the first time in my life, I had my credit cards stolen.
