May 1st - 16th 2009. It's been 5 years since my last visit. I stayed with Lorraine. The weather was really hot the day I arrived, but turned cooler and damper after that. On my first day Lorraine and I went to the Tulip festival in the Skagit Valley in Washington State. It was supposed to finish in April, but because the tulips were late blooming, it had been extended. There were still quite a few fields full of tulips and colour. There were some amazingly different types of tulip, one looked like a peony. The last time I was there Marco Radunz, offered to take me out. He did the same this time and we went to Whistler, where some of the 2010 Olympics are being held. We had intended to go on the Peak To Peak cable car, but it was closed for maintenance, so we went on a zip trek instead. This consisted of going up the mountain by minibus and travelling back on five zip lines, the fourth of which was 2000 feet long with a 20 storey drop. I travelled the last line upside down (deliberately)!
