September. Boston, Massachusetts. We took a local bus into Boston where we walked to the Old State House. We had a look at Faneuil Hall and then walked part of the Freedom Trail. On the way we saw Paul Revere's House and St. Stephen's and Christchurch churches. The latter is where Rose Kennedy mother of JFK was baptised. We had lunch and a beer in HRC before walking more of the Freedom Trail out to the Charles River. We called in at Quincy Market and then took a bus back.

September. Portland, Maine. Jerry Marceau, who I met on a Baltic cruise back in 2012 came to pick us up and drove us to Kennebunkport. Kennebunkport is a pretty little town with a lot of quaint old houses and shops. Outside are lots of large, expensive houses. We drove past the Bush family compound, which is on a small headland, on our way to Cape Porpoise, where we had lobster roll for lunch. Then it was back to Portland for a beer before heading off to the Summit. Another hot and enjoyable day. It was a shame Kristen, Jerry's wife, couldn't join us, but she did send some maple syrup cotton candy and sweets.

September. Bar Harbor, Maine. Fastest tender ever. Went to the Elite lounge, walked in, straight back out and on to the tender. We strolled around the quaint town of Bar Harbor, down to the beach and along part of causeway to Bar Island and then on to a whale watching boat. We saw a fin whale, porpoises, dolphins, seals and a sun fish.

September. Sea day. In the evening 12 of us from Cruise Critic ate in Qsine. This is one of Celebrity's speciality restaurants. You order from an iPad and the portions are small and err, different. The food was, mostly, good and despite the portion sizes very filling. The filet-mignon was really tender, but I didn't like the lobster-escargots, despite liking both, individually.

September. Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Arrived early but delayed in disembarking. Dave, Maggy, Barbara and I took a trip round part of the island. We saw Brackley Beach, Rustico, North Rustico, South Rustico and New Glasgow. Lots of scenery and sea views. We saw the oldest Acadian house in the province and a beautiful black and white church called st. Augustin's. We were supposed to visit the house at Green Gables which inspired the book, but we were all hungry, so went and ate mussels instead! En route to one of the towns, we passed a mail box outside a house. It was an effigy of a golfer called Norman and was dressed in real clothes. Apparently, during the summer, the local kids used to pull his trousers down!

September. Québec City, Québec. Barbara and I walked to the Gare du Palais to buy tickets for the bus to Montmorency Falls. The station was amazing inside, a bit like a mini Grand Central. When we got to Montmorency we strolled down past the falls, which are higher than Niagara, but not as wide or impressive. We had lunch and then returned to Québec City. We strolled around some of the old town and went into Notre Dame de Québec Cathedral. Then we went into the Chateau Frontenac for a drink (a cappuccino!) and walked along the Promenade des Goveurneurs. This is over 600 metres long and has over 350 steps. It was tiring! We ended up on the Plains of Abraham and then strolled back through the walls of the old city and wandered round a bit more before taking the funicular down to the lower level, through some more narrow streets and back to the ship. In the evening we wandered back and ate a great meal in the old town.

September. Québec City, Québec. We took a short galley tour before venturing out into a cool damp Québec City. We wandered around a little, passing out of the walled part into the 'newer' part. Back on board we had a brief backstage tour of the theatre.

September. Sydney, Nova Scotia. Chris, Jan, Carolyn, Barbara and I grabbed a cab and went to Baddock, which is where Alexander Graham Bell lived. He was an amazing man. Not only did he invent the telephone, he also dabbled in animal genetics, aeroplanes, boats and solar energy amongst others. On the way we drove past St. Ann's Bay and other places. We took the ferry at Englishtown, which is all of about 100 metres! We took another, very short, ferry ride at Little Narrows. The countryside is amazing and some trees were starting to turn. Sadly, only a few though.

September. Halifax, Nova Scotia. Dave, Maggy, Barbara and I went on a tour to Peggy's Cove. En route we visited the Titanic portion of the Fairview Lawn Cemetery in Halifax, East and West Dover. We saw some amazing coastal views and even saw a beaver lodge. Peggy's Cove is OK, and it's lighthouse is nice enough, but the place is overrun with buses and tourists. The other places we visited just as pretty, with stunning views and no coach would have been able to reach them. I much preferred the 'Dovers'.

New York, USA. A short tour before going to the airport. We saw many of the famous sights such as Chrysler and Empire State Buildings, before stopping by the Rockefeller Center. We had a quick look around before visiting the 911 Memorial site. We saw the new Freedom Tower, the memorial fountains and the new Oculus, which is shaped like a pair of doves wings.
