Cruise to Barcelona

5 May. Gijón, Spain. I left Gijon (pronounced hehon!) for Oviedo. In Oviedo I saw the church of San Julian de los Prados, San Salvador cathedral and the old town. The church of San Julian de los Prados has a small room at the top of the building in the rear. The only was to reach it is by ladder and no one knows what it's for. Oviedo is an old place with lots of narrow streets. Interspersed there are lots of plazas. In one there was a statue of an old milk seller and her ass. This square was where they used to sell milk in times past. All round that area are streets named after the various trades that were carried on there. Oviedo has so much street art. Woody Allen made a film there and there's even a statue of him.

6 May. Vigo, Spain. Wet weather today, so Susan, Karen and I left the ship late and wandered into town. We strolled around looking at the sights and through the back streets. We then ended up in 'Seafood Alley' where we had some mussels, garlic prawns and a bottle of Albariño wine, before heading back to the ship and zonking in the solarium. A lazy day!

8 May. Gibraltar, UK. I was supposed to go on a dolphin watching trip today. The weather was appalling and I was soaked to the skin by the time I arrived. Thankfully they called it off and I just returned to the ship. I had sopping wet clothes hanging all round the cabin. It was another lazy day by the pool. In the evening they held a silent disco in 270. I'd never been to one before and it was good fun.
