Had a good time in Dubai. The hotel was the only 3 star one on Jumeira Beach, but was within walking distance of plenty of restaurants, shops etc. I had a bus tour of both creekside Dubai and the beach. I went to Wild Wadi Water Park on my birthday, and I also went dune bashing in a 4x4. Dubai is quite an interesting little place, but you really only want to spend 4 or 5 days there. The shopping is world class, with huge malls every two or three miles, it seems. There is so much building going on that half of the worlds cranes are utilised in Dubai. Apparently it all has to be completed by 2009, when the oil runs out!
