According to weather.com it was going to rain every day I was in Budapest. I had glorious sun every day! It rained for about 10 minutes on the Wednesday, apart from that, the weather was excellent. My hotel was about 300 metres from the Danube and it was really easy to get around. Budapest is an absolutely wonderful city. Most of the buildings are really old. You walk along a street, look up and see that the building has pictures or gilding on it. And every one seems different to the next one. I was shocked at how much graffitti there was. It was on every thing that you looked at. I walked miles and I still have the blisters to prove it. I went on the funicular to the top of Castle Hill and wandered old Buda town. I had a trip on the river, getting off at Margaret Island and walking back to the hotel. I had a bath at the Gellert Hotel baths! Not the most exciting thing I've ever done! One of their Metro Lines is called the Millennium Line, it was built in the late nineteenth century, to celebrate the citys' millennium. It's a remarkably cheap place, especially to eat out and they have wonderful coffee and cakes! All in all a worthwhile trip.
